How it started

During my time at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit I found myself taking a screenprinting class. It opened my eyes to how I could take my designs and incorporate them into my own clothing visions.

Fast forward a couple years when I was struggling to find clothing for my infant son. Most everything included toy trains and cutesy bears. No offense, but I wanted something more my style and unique. That’s when I started printing my own Detroit Baby designs on onesies and tees. When people started asking where I had gotten them, I turned my basement into a mini printing studio. Selling to boutiques in the area, my designs evolved, as well as my offerings.

I sold my Goods at street fairs and markets, meeting many other artists. We became a community of crafters at a lot of local events. In 2010 I made the leap of leaving the corporate world and opening up a brick and mortar, Goods, in Midtown Detroit.

With the evolution of the neighborhood, so did the era of shops along Woodward. In 2016 I made the decision to take my goods back to my home studio, and probably at the right time because the pandemic wasn’t far behind. My designs sat dormant, as well as the world.

After years of change, and the need for my mind to keep creating, I’ve revived some of my favorite pieces, as well as continuing with where I see it becoming.
